We've listened to your feedback and taken inspiration from industry leaders like Apple's Find My and Google Maps to make location sharing on Waldo simpler and more intuitive than ever before.

Simplifying Location Sharing

In the past, Waldo required a bi-directional connection similar to LinkedIn connections or Facebook friends, where the other person had to accept your invite to share your location. This created too much friction in the sharing process.

Now, when you share your location with someone on Waldo, they receive an email notification informing them that you're sharing your location. Don't worry, we respect privacy, and they can unsubscribe from these notifications if they wish.

Stay Updated on the Go

One of the most exciting changes is the introduction of location notifications. Whenever you travel to a new location, your connections will automatically receive a notification, keeping them informed about your adventures and ensuring that you're always connected, even when you're on the move. This includes people who are “subscribers” in the sense that they have not created their own Waldo account, but receive your updates via email.

A More Intuitive Connections Tab

We've also given the Connections tab a makeover. Now, when you view your connections, you'll notice handy arrows next to each name. Here's what they mean:

• An arrow pointing to the right indicates that you are sharing your location with that person.

• An arrow pointing to the left signifies that they are sharing their location with you.

• A double-sided arrow means that you both share your location with each other.

Furthermore, we've added a distance indicator so you can see how far someone is from you in either miles or kilometers. This feature helps you gauge proximity and plan meetups with ease.

The Future of Waldo

With this updated location sharing method in place, we're gearing up to introduce a native mobile app. This app will ensure that you always have access to up-to-date location information right at your fingertips. It's our commitment to providing you with the best tools for staying connected and making the most of your social interactions.
